calm
Hello! Today I decided to talk to you about something that is very close to my heart: calmness.
Now ... calmness is unfortunately misunderstood precisely because in the jargon we consider calm a state of tranquility or at any rate of no depth at a high level. Instead, calmness is a state in which body and mind are found, that is, when having no negative thoughts or physical problems we find ourselves in a state of total tranquility/serenity.
But why is it important to be calm?
Calmness is essential for our mind. In fact, if we overstress our nervous system for a relatively long period of time we may find ourselves facing problems such as "anxiety" or often even "sadness." Unfortunately, calmness is often difficult to achieve because we have doubts or difficulties that we are or know we are facing. Know that if your problem is the constant rustling of thoughts you do not have some psychological disorder (as I thought in the past) but are simply "Overthinker." I tend to classify overthinkers into positive and negative precisely because, although often viewed in a negative light, overthinking is a process that can help us overcome doubts or moments of panic. At the same time it can create some.
Living with anxiety, although it often seems the easiest solution, is not the best. The healing process is very long, but the duration depends on how one acts on that problem.
On the internet I found this simple diagram to make you understand the concept better. The main problem of overthinkers but also of people suffering from anxiety is that they worry about basic and easily solvable problems or problems that do not even exist! Low self-esteem here unfortunately plays tricks since obviously not having self-confidence makes it difficult to believe that one does not have problems. As a result one is regurgitated by a spiral of thoughts that often lead to isolation and other various messes. Now ... going around social media you will surely have realized how often many young people find themselves in trouble. The problem Carmine lies in the lack of peace and quiet, which can be destroyed by school (as in my case when I was in middle school) or relatives and toxic friendships! Pay attention to toxic friendships! The problem is that often these people do not want to change! Now... yes it can still be solved even if with some difficulty? Yes, and also at the root. Instead of following what the professor who hates you tells you, don't do it--don't believe what he says. If your "friend" tells you that you suck, don't believe it. Don't believe the hoaxes! It is no coincidence that the slogans of my blog are two and one of them is "Enemy For Liars." We must beware of liars who try to bring us down by calling themselves heroes!
How do you get control of your emotions?
Gaining control of one's emotions and thus becoming more responsible people for one's actions but also more serene, is a very long process and there is no one practice or at any rate something that will lead to this result since the change has to start from daily life.
However, there are practices that can help us in our intent and improve ourselves.
1 Meditation
Meditation, is unfortunately misunderstood since it is considered a practice of having a sensory experience by sitting with crossed legs and reciting a Mantra. In reality, meditation is simply a practice of stopping for a minute from your busy life and analyzing your thoughts one by one, without rejecting them. Accepting mistakes and understanding a lesson from them. It is obvious that meditation is a completely subjective practice and there are many ways to practice it. However, it is important that this is not the purpose of isolation or idleness, as it is often understood. Meditation may last 3 minutes, but in those few moments, you need to be focused and completely serious.
What about the posture?
There is no right and wrong posture. The typical cross-legged position is totally valid and even comfortable in my opinion but may be uncomfortable for some people. A sitting position is also fine. The important thing is that you are not distracted and that the position remains the same.
What about the hands?
There is no specific position for the hands either.... The hands may be resting on the thighs or with the palms facing upward as a sign of entering calmness or spirit.
The important thing is to surrender completely and let peace enter within us.
Inner peace in fact, although often underestimated is very important and I assure you that once found it will be beautiful! Feeling at peace with your body and mind is a feeling that can be experienced with a lot of effort. It goes without saying that meditation is a journey, so enjoy it!
Better with or without music?
Both are fine but if you really have to choose a playlist choose and one of music that is not distracting like Ambient.
Consider reciting Mantras (repeated phrases or prayers to focus on). Everyone can adopt their own based on passions or religion. For example, I prefer to recite the "Our Father" prayer, but everyone can choose their own. The important thing is that this choice is not changed during the time.

2 Walking.
Walking is a very beautiful and useful practice for focusing on calmness. Walking in nature or even on the street is great. However, consider walking in places without too much noise that might distract you.
3 Mindfullness
I discovered this practice some time ago while reading a blog and immediately fell in love with it. Similar to meditation this practice is based on not thinking about anything for a short or long period of time. This promotes mental relaxation and stress release through slow diaphragmatic breathing.
4 Consult a specialist
I know that my advice since from personal experience can be helpful, but if you find yourself in a serious psychological situation, do not be ashamed to get the advice of a therapist.
And remember, you are not alone, millions of people every day suffer from psychological problems that they cannot overcome on their own, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Whatever the case, with these tips, I want to invite you to become the best versions of yourself, kind to yourself and the rest of the world.
Take care and feel free to ask me any questions in the comments, I will be happy to answer them!
