the japanese cafè (Part 1, Chapter 2)

Part 1

Chapter 2

a strange customer

It was a quiet day in the café. The café was sparsely crowded, the only customers were a young man who was getting a croissant before school and a woman who was enjoying coffee. Suddenly as the two clerks were talking, a bell was heard ringing. Strangely, however, the door had opened and no one had entered. When Daiki (the clerk) came out of the barista station to see what had happened, he caught a glimpse as he lowered his gaze of a cuddly little orange cat that had just itrufled.

“Well, look who paid us a visit,” he exclaimed, smiling and stroking the head of the kitten, which closed its eyes and allowed itself to be cuddled as it purred on the parque of the bar.

“He looks like you every time someone gives you a caress or a compliment!” Said the colleague jokingly

“Ah! Go ahead! I only do that when they touch me in specific places! But what do we do with this kitty anyway?”

With that said, as the two were thinking about what to do, the boy sitting at the table raised his hand and shared his idea, “You could keep him here, you have enough milk for him and the next ten generations of cats!”

Daiki took the kitten in his arms and as he looked at it smilingly replied, “Good idea! That is, if our friend can handle another colleague!”

“Of course I'd put up with a kitten, on the other hand we couldn't leave him on the street either, if we have a chance to get him out of the dangers of the street we'd better do it!”

“Good point Fumiko! And thanks to our dear client!”

“You're welcome!” Replied the customer

When closing time arrived, around lunchtime, both clerks looked at the cat, and Fumiko, who in a short time had become very fond of the cat asked him smilingly, “Do you like the salary, and are you ready to make lots of coffee?”
